I’m from Gallatin. It is amazing how you could go from a city to rural within a couple of miles. The rural countryside is simply amazing. A constant reminder of how Tennessee once was. I’ve always been a proponent of preserving and learning from our history.
One way of doing this is digitally through my photos. Walking through history and taking it all in is such a great feeling. In some places, the grass is overgrown, the sun is blazing, and all you see is what was always there — no modern technology, and minimal sounds.
You really get to thinking of how people must have had to live like to survive. They didn’t have to worry about the little things we hate, but actual threats to their lives. It was a simpler time.
